Memory Improvement With A Math Puzzle!

Did you realize you can use a math puzzle as part of your memory improvement program and keep your brain active and functional?

The brain, just like every other muscle in the body, requires exercise. Without exercise, the brain gradually degenerates. This leads to many problems that are related to our daily living - declining productivity for younger people and higher risk of dementia for older people.

Make Doing A Math Puzzle A Fun Part Of Your Memory Improvement Program

Don't be mistaken. Engaging in math puzzles doesn't necessarily mean you sit down with a pencil and try to solve complicated math problems. Putting yourself in a stressful situation isn't going to help sharpen your mind. So the trick is to make it fun.

Math is about logic. So any type of game that involves the use of logic is a type of math puzzle. For instance, popular games include chess, checkers, reversi, sudoku etc. Of course, there are games that involve the direct application of your math skills.

The math matching game is one such example. This game can sharpen your logic skills and help improve your memory. The rules are simple. The game starts with (4 by 4) 16 blocks. Within these blocks, there are a total of 8 pairs. All the blocks face down when the game starts. Two players may then play against each other. The first player will turn 2 blocks upwards. That will reveal a mathematical equation or a shape. So the player needs to remember the equation or the shape.

To make the blocks easier to remember, players are encouraged to compute the equations and arrive at the answer. It's certainly easier to remember just one answer instead of a series of equations. To win, a player must match the most number of blocks. The player with the most pairs is the winner of the game.

You can, of course, come up with different variations of the game to make it more fun and challenging. Instead of matching equations, you can try to match each equation with its answer.

The whole family can engage in these types of games and have lots of fun together ... exercising the brain, enhancing memory, logic and relationships - all at the same time ... talk about the ultimate in multi-tasking ... it doesn't get any better than that!

Fun and simple memory puzzles bring tremendous benefits to individuals or all ages. Don't forget to give your brain the exercise that it needs!
