Using the Power of Positive Thinking To Enhance Your Life

Never underestimate the power of positive thinking on your mental and emotional health.

On average, the human brain produces around 50,000 thoughts per day. Unfortunately, most of those thoughts are negative. The way an individual thinks has an enormous impact on their memory. Naturally, the human brain is inclined to try to forget about negative experiences. It's important to keep a positive frame of mind in order to improve your memory. Facts, information, and experiences absorbed while in a good mood are easier to recall.

The Benefits in the Power of Positive Thinking

It's been proven that emotions are tied in with memory. The key is to attempt to charge every thought with a positive emotion by changing the way you think. For example, if your mind is filled with negative thoughts while studying for an important exam, chances are that you won't remember anything that you read. Being positive your focus is sharper and you think clearer.

A positive emotional arousal helps memory.

While events and information absorbed during a negative frame of mind are still possible to recall, details are not as easily remembered. One of the effects of, and the power of positive thinking is that it helps the brain to produce happier, healthier emotions that help to recall overall memories along with the details associated with them.

Everything we do is marked by some sort of emotion. Emotions are brought on by your thoughts about events. It is our reactions to those events that determine what type of emotion will be experienced. That is why it is especially important to make sure that your thoughts are positive. The real power of positive thinking is that when you are thinking more optimistic vs pessimistic thoughts (even when it seems impossible to do), it makes for a better quality of life.

If you're like most people, you probably have forgetful moments. Your forgetfulness is most likely brought on by remaining in a negative frame of mind. The fact is that positive thinking is not difficult to achieve. Probably you are always blaming yourself for messing things up and beating yourself up over how you could have done something better. Because of your negative thought process, your way of thinking is holding you back from being successful.

Change Your Future

You can easily change your future and the way you experience life by turning your thinking process around. For example, when you forget something, do not assume that you have failed. Instead, improve your memory by enforcing positive self-talk. Say something to yourself like "Ahh, it is good that I have now remembered ..." Positive thinking activities such as these help you to focus your attention toward where it needs to be ... on remembering - not beating yourself up for forgetting.

When something doesn't go the way you quite planned, talk to yourself by stating something positive and imagining how you will feel once you accomplish what you want. By doing this, you will create positive emotions that provide for you something to look forward to and change the outcome of your current situation.

People are only limited by their thoughts.

Because thoughts create emotions, everything is motivated by some sort of hopeful outcome. When you change your thinking, you change your life.

Inspire Yourself To Elite Levels

Bottom line people are driven by one of two things: fear or inspiration. Fear will certainly get most people up and moving - but it isn't sustainable and it certainly doesn't feel good. Inspiration however, keeps people moving forward, even when challenges hit.

Look at it another way -- would you coach an elite athlete by telling him or her how stupid, dumb, worthless, incapable her or she is? Do you think that would bring out the very best in him or her? So why are you any different? It is time to start seeing yourself as elite as well. Because the arena in which you are playing a world class game is your own life ... and isn't that one worth excelling at.

So become an inspiring coach for yourself - use the power of positive thinking! Within your own mind, start painting pictures of where you are heading, how it will feel ... make these pictures in your mind inspiring to you - this is your own self-help project. That's the power of positive thinking -- it is for you and controlled by you ... and for you alone!
